American Truck Simulator
American Truck Simulator is exactly what it says on the tin. You play as a truck driver who delivers cargoes between American towns and earns money to start your own business with your own trucks. You can download American Truck Simulator for Windows along with its extensions and drive new trucks down new roads!
Road Movie 5/5
The game looks… American. Trucks feel and look realistic, with their stuffed dashboards, big wheels, and that inertia. You can select between the first-person view through the windshield and other views, including cinematic, to enjoy the view from the outside. But it’s the environment that makes the game great. American small towns and cities, prairie roads and deserts, rocks, and forests are worth riding through.
Business Delivery 5/5
It’s the story of the American dream. As you start the game, you’re just a hired driver working for some company, riding the company’s truck for small rewards. But as you succeed through, you purchase your own trucks and take your own risks. Then you become the one who hires, and your trucks start delivering across various states, including Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Oregon, or Washington.
The point of it, though, is driving. As you try various trucks, loaded to a certain extent, you experience the physical feel of it. Sitting in the cabin, you have control over the engine, with various brake models, chassis, even paints. Gradually you create your perfect truck.
The truck models are licensed by famous vendors, and their properties are thoroughly recreated in the digital version. You can also install expansion packs to change their appearance, for example, for Halloween, or for Christmas, or just because you like that new paint. It’s yours, anyway!
This combination of driving, business, and style makes American Truck Simulator worth playing. But you will fully enjoy it only if you know even a bit about driving. This is not the type of art to learn from scratch.
Such a Small America 5/5
Surprisingly for not a challenging indie project, American Truck Simulator system requirements are very low. You’ll only need 3 GB to install American Truck Simulator, and 4 GB RAM to run it correctly. Most CPUs and GPUs now in use are able to handle it. As for controls, you can use a keyboard and mouse, but we’d recommend using an Xbox gamepad.
That’s one powerful game! With no destruction or demolition (as long as you drive by the rules), it makes you feel like the power you possess is greater than any fictional weapons in fantastic worlds. Recreated sounds and looks make you feel lordly, and the vibration of the gamepad shakes the universe.
